FBI Figures Show Rise in Jewelry Robberies

Cattle rustling, though, is way down.

The numbers are running a tad late, but the FBI has finally got its crime stats together for 2012. The good news: Thieves made off with more than $15.5 billion worth of stuff, down from just over $17 billion five years ago. But the bad guys made off with $300 million more in jewelry and precious metals than they did in 2011. Other revelations include the news that Flint MI led the nation in homicides per capita, live stock theft was down more than one third, and Texas led the country in the number of people (101)killed by “hands, fists and feet.”
